By the early 1870's there was a blacksmith with livery, two stores, a flour mill, and three hotels and several boarding houses. Although the collapse of mining did not turn Paradise into a ghost town, by 1920 the commercial enterprises had declined dramatically as many merchants and services moved to Winnemucca to be near the railroad. Today, although primarily agriculturally based, Paradise includes a deli and saloon, a mercantile store, a school house, a community hall and a park, and a post office in addition to the Stonehouse Country Inn.
The Stonehouse Country Inn is a lovely three story country home surrounded by
majestic Cottonwood trees. Spacious rooms feature views from every window. A
generous yard with lawn and creek provides summertime pleasure. Relax and enjoy
your stay with the scenic beauty of wildlife, meadows, and ranch life. Enjoy
delicious, home-cooked meals with a view of the valley and mountains. Your
appetite will be enhanced by generous portions of prime rib, barbecued steak,
lamb, pork, or seafood.
